COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS AND PROGRAM SCHEDULE AT THE 18TH NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MSM LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE ON HEALTH DISPARITIES AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
JANUARY 13-16, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – In less than four weeks, NAESM Inc., www.naesminc.org, is set to stage the 18th National African American MSM Leadership Conference on Health Disparities and Social Justice in Los Angeles, California at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel, January 13-16, 2022. Join us as we explore the conference theme, “Our Lives Matter: Turning the Tide Together” (see attached program schedule).

As we navigate these challenging times, Dr. Alvan Quamina, Executive Director of NAESM, Inc., shares an update on COVID-19 precautions at the upcoming conference.

“In connection with the National African American MSM Leadership Conference on Health Disparities and Social Justice, NAESM is monitoring developments with the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus, and we remain confident that we can hold a safe and enjoyable conference once the appropriate precautions are taken. To that end, we would like to remind you of the precautions that have already been put into place for the conference and make a few recommendations for making your conference experience as safe as possible. We reiterate that only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to register for and attend the conference. While we are not requiring that attendees receive a booster shot before attending the conference, consistent with current CDC guidelines, we strongly recommend that attendees do so, particularly if their final vaccination shot was more than six months ago. Masking will be required for all participants at all conference functions. Our conference spaces will be laid out in such a way as to support social distancing, and sanitizing stations will be ubiquitous. We will have on hand rapid COVID-19 tests which can be administered upon request. We reserve the right to screen participants with temperature checks and/or COVID-19 rapid tests.

Neither the CDC nor the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has called for restrictions on events such as ours. We continue to monitor their evolving regulations and recommendations and will comply with both. Let’s have a safe, enjoyable, and educational conference! And I look forward to seeing you all at the 18th National African American MSM Leadership Conference on Health Disparities and Social Justice.”
